Bina–Katni 3rd Railway Line — Package 1

The Bina–Katni corridor is one of Indian Railways' busiest freight routes, but capacity constraints limited throughput. Adding a third line required massive hard rock cutting through the Vindhya range — 7.6 lakh cubic metres of rock including both chisel/breaker and controlled blasting operations — while maintaining safety on the adjacent live rail lines.

VRSIPL executed 5,35,842 cum of hard rock cutting by chisel/breaker and 2,25,308 cum by controlled blasting, followed by 7,44,165 cum of embankment construction for the 33 km third line formation. The team constructed 35,734 cum of RCC for bridges, culverts, and cross-drainage structures, plus 2,606 MT of structural steelwork — all while maintaining zero disruption to live rail traffic on the existing double-line section.
