Tawa LBMC Canal Lining Works

The Tawa LBMC had chronic seepage losses that significantly reduced water reaching tail-end command areas. Farmers in Hoshangabad, Harda, and Betul districts were receiving inadequate irrigation supply due to deteriorated canal lining and groundwater uplift damaging the canal bed during low-flow periods.

VRSIPL applied 1,63,749 cum of concrete lining (16,37,490 sqm total area) using sensor-guided paver technology for precise thickness control. Beneath the lining, 20,01,201 running metres of PVC corrugated perforated pipe were installed as sub-surface drainage to relieve groundwater uplift pressure, complemented by 12,865 pressure relief valves — one of MP's largest PRV installations.
