The Bina-Katni Third Line Railway Project (Package 1), being executed by VRSIPL for Central Railway, has achieved a significant milestone of 50% physical progress. The project is part of India's capacity expansion programme on the Delhi-Mumbai-Kolkata rail corridor and is proceeding on schedule.
Project Overview
VRSIPL's scope covers approximately 42 km of track formation including earthwork, ballast laying, drainage structures, minor bridges, and subgrade preparation across Madhya Pradesh.
Progress Snapshot
- Earth formation: 100% complete (42 km)
- Minor drainage structures: 94% complete
- Major bridges: 3 of 5 under active construction
- Ballast supply and spreading: 60% complete
- Land acquisition clearance: 97% complete
Engineering Achievement
The project traverses challenging terrain including a 1.2 km rock-cutting section near Sagar, executed using controlled blasting and slope stabilisation with rock bolts and shotcrete. The team maintained zero Lost Time Injuries (LTI) throughout.
VRSIPL in Railway Infrastructure
VRSIPL has completed and ongoing railway civil works for Central Railway, Western Railway, and RVNL across Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat. Railway Civil Works constitutes approximately 22% of the company's annual revenue.
